A Dumbo Elephant ride vehicle recently sold at the Van Eaton Galleries in Sherman Oaks for $483,000. The auction saw the sale of many a prized Disney artifact and ended up netting $8.3 million for its organizer, Richard Kraft who later on said he would be donating a portion of the funds to two organizations that help children suffering from the rare genetic disorder Coffin-Siris Syndrome and other special needs. Kraft, whose 4 year old daughter suffers from the rare disorder, hopes to help other children suffering from the disease.

The auction included memorabilia collected over the span of 25 years. There were many odd objects at the event, including a full canoe from frontierland, a very old sea serpent from the submarine ride, and a giant letter D that hung from the top of the Disney Hotel. In fact David Copperfield ended up buying the huge D for $86,250 at the auction.
